Bonjour et bienvenue à French at Norton Hill Primary School!

At Norton Hill Primary, we believe that learning a language opens the door to new cultures, experiences and opportunities. Our French curriculum is designed to inspire curiosity, build confidence and develop a lifelong love of languages.

Through fun, interactive and engaging lessons, pupils learn to communicate in French while exploring the culture, traditions and daily life of French-speaking countries. Children develop their speaking and listening skills through songs, games, role play and collaborative activities before gradually building their reading and writing skills as they progress through the school.

Our carefully planned curriculum revisits key vocabulary and language structures throughout each year, helping pupils to develop confidence and fluency over time. We encourage children to become language detectives, spotting patterns, making connections and developing an understanding of how languages work.

Learning French helps our pupils become confident communicators and thoughtful global citizens. It promotes respect for different cultures, broadens horizons and provides a strong foundation for learning other languages in the future.

We celebrate language learning through themed activities, cultural events and opportunities to use French beyond the classroom, ensuring that every child experiences the joy and value of learning a new language.

À bientôt!
